DIVINE VOICE
Indian Classical Music Note Singing Practice: A Meditation on Sound and Presence
Embrace Your Divine Instrument: Everyone was born to sing!
In our Indian Classical music practice, we engage in a sacred act of surrendering to music Herself. This practice invites us to let go of our self-imposed limitations and embrace the present moment. By allowing the music to flow through us like breath through a flute, we connect deeply with the essence of our being, we gently allow each note to brush the strings of our hearts instrument and become the voice of our soul.
What We Practice
- Breath Support: Building a strong foundation for clear and resonant singing.
- Intonation: Achieving perfect pitch and harmony.
- Vocal Range: Expanding the scope of your voice.
- Dexterity: Enhancing vocal agility and control.
- Tone: Cultivating a rich and pleasing sound.
- Note Recognition: Developing the ability to identify and reproduce musical notes.
- Projection and Presence: Enhancing the power and presence of your voice.
Class Structure
This class welcomes all levels of experience. We begin with a blissful call-and-response note singing practice for 45 minutes, followed by working on a composition in a specific Raag (a set of notes) and end with chanting mantras and sacred songs.
A Word from My Teacher
Dr. Ustad Narinder Singh Sandhu taught me that: “You do not need to know anything about music to sing. You do not need to have a beautiful voice or talent to sing. The only thing that you need is LOVE.”
Testimonials
“ When Kiranjot joins our chants, her presence infuses the air with a powerful energy that transcends words. It’s as if love itself has manifested, weaving its gentle yet unstoppable threads through our hearts and souls. Together, we become a symphony of love, echoing the timeless truth that love conquers all.”
